Merci Fernandez grew up working on her parents' coffee farm and continued to help out during her studies in agriculture and livestock production. Producing coffee on her own two farms, she strives to improve the quality of her produce through technical improvements as well as building systems to run her business in an increasingly sustainable way.
This coffee is a part of a sourcing program run by Origin Coffee Lab. They emphasise buying from small farmers in the areas around Jaén and San Ignacio, helping producers separating their coffee based on quality, creating both micro-lots which receive a higher premium, and communal producer blends that can be sold in higher quantities.
The coffee has a heavy body and a delicious stonefruit character reminding of plums, and a yummy marsipan-like sweetness and aroma.
